Cherish At Central Park

<p>The wonderful marketing materials and syrupy management rhetoric associated with Cherish at Central Park belies the toxic reality that some of its 70 to 90 year old residents are experiencing.&nbsp;</p><p>It is believed that the 39 condominium owners living in Cherish have overpaid more that $200,000, in the past 5 years, for building charges that they are not responsible for and to cover budget deficits resulting from poor management and questionable expensing.&nbsp; This amount is based on an investigation by the current STRATA Council, duly elected by the condominium owners to protect their interests.&nbsp;</p><p>To the detriment of these condominium owners, the building's owners and management have refused to&nbsp; acknowledge any overpayment nor do they wish to engage in arbitration to resolve this issue in a fair and equitable manner.&nbsp;</p><p>An attempt by condominium owners to self-initiate arbitration (requiring a 75% vote in favour) was thwarted by the building's owners through a campaign of misinformation, fear mongering and by buying up a sufficient number of condominiums.</p><p>With no other recourse, the STRATA Corporation's only option was to reduce the payments made to the building owners on a monthly basis until the overpayment is recouped or it is shown that the payments previously made were legitimate.&nbsp;</p><p>The building owners are now soliciting payment directly from condominium owners (an illegal strategy that bypasses the protection of the STRATA) again using threats and misinformation.&nbsp; A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to support a legal action to fight this injustice (see <a href="https://gofund.me/07ff39b8">https://gofund.me/07ff39b8</a>).</p><p>Those refusing to succumb to the building owners aggression and blackmail tactics have now been cut off from services and amenities which they rely on and for which they pay.&nbsp; Most importantly, this includes housekeeping and dining services.&nbsp; The building owners are also socially isolating these residents by disallowing their involvement in activities such as the building choir and fitness classes.</p><p>This is pure and utter senior abuse and neglect.&nbsp; How can anyone endorse a senior home that seems to value profit and control over the health and well-being of an extremely fragile demographic.</p><p>To get an idea of what past employees are saying about Cherish at Central Park have a look at Indeed's reviews (see <a href="https://ca.indeed.com/cmp/Cherish-At-Central-Park/reviews">https://ca.indeed.com/cmp/Cherish-At-Central-Park/reviews</a>).</p><figure class="table"><table><tbody><tr><td><figure class="image"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ALm5wu11ZSXREQAfvpX_HD4hEcRPFT1Zh6vhGO5iEP_1=s40-p-mo"></figure></td><td>ReplyReply allForward</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
